Our son..."Dairy Queen"

We had a great weekend of adventures - Jerry is growing up so fast. It made me think that I needed to do an up date on each of our children - starting with him. First, if you ask him his name - it's "Dairy Queen". Just say it fast - and you'll understand...
Jerry is my morning child - waking with bright eyes and a smile every morning. And, every morning, he has a wild windblown look- as if he has been flying the skies with Peter Pan - takes a little water to tame those curls. His favorite meal of the day is breakfast - a full breakfast - cereal is just a side dish. His favorite foods include blueberries, spinach with cheese, pancakes, hamburgers, pizza, salad, breakfast tacos and anything Daddy cooks on the barbecue pit. If you give him an apple do not insult his big-ness by peeling, cutting or coring. He does NOT like peas - and that's about all I can think of right now that he truly does not like to eat. He is my assistant chef in the kitchen - and is actually quite good at working the stand mixer. His favorite chef assignment is slicing fresh mushrooms (with a butter knife). Although, I always have to double the mushrooms that I need for the recipe - he eats half of them-raw! Of course, isn't that the perk of being a assistant chef - samples?
Jerry is now completely potty trained. Once HE decided that he was ready - he just did it -maybe only one or two accidents in the last 3 months. He has now declared that he is to big to even use a potty chair. So out goes the talking Elmo potty chair - whooohoooo! I mistakenly had bought the Spanish speaking one - so we really couldn't understand it anyway. Plus it was creepy in the middle of the night. Jerry would even tell it "Hush! You're going to wake up Sissie!" Jerry is very particular about being clean. He washes his hands frequently - sometimes 2-3 times during dinner. A few drops of water on his clothes requires an entire wardrobe change. So it only figures that he is very particular about where he goes to the bathroom too - the potty has to be up to his standards. At the airshow - he held it the entire day - the Skid-O-Cans were "discuss-sing". Needless to say he is NOT like his uncles Jeremy & Harley trying out every discuss-sing restroom in the country. Most public restrooms do NOT make the grade. He actually told me the other day - pointing to the potty - "Clean it Mom" - and that was at home! So, if he has been over to your house and went potty "Bueno Bano" to you! He panicked the other day in the backyard because he had waited too long. So I just guided him to the edge of the back porch and told him to go. He gave me a crazy look - like your kidding right? But he did it - it was his first out door peeing adventure. His dad complimented his arc. "That was fun, Mom!"
Currently Jerry's favorite things are dolphins, sharks, whales, trains, and the Blue Angels. His bath tub toys include a great white shark, orca, humpback whale, blue shark & tiger shark - by Schleich(we're looking for a Schleich dolphin). And he knows about them - Sharks have big teeth and caudal fins. Dolphins and whales have flukes and like to jump. Both have dorsal fins. Obviously one of his favorite things is watching the dolphin show at the aquarium.
He loves to go to riding in his Daddy's truck and playing outside while big Jerry is BBQing - again it's the samples. He is remembering places by sight - MeMe & Pappy's, PawPaw's, B&G's, where we get ice cream, where he saw the train(a historic steam engine) on the school field trip and the grocery store. He is a back seat driver - telling me which way HE wants to go and gets very upset when I turn right instead of left as instructed.
He loves to count things - seems to skip 4, 5, 6, 7. His favorite color is pink. He has a stutter on the first words in sentences esp. if it is a vowel. It is made worse when he is in a hurry or very tired. He likes to watch Elmo, Bob the Builder and anything with dolphins or whales. This past Friday night we went on a mother-son date to see Disney's Oceans. It was great! And, only a handful of people in the theatre - almost all young families - so no one minded him loudly interacting with the movie. There was a mother walrus nuzzling her new born - Jerry was yelling "Don't bite the baby!!" When a clutch of turtles hatched and started to head to sea - the birds were diving at them and eating them - BOTH of us were yelling "Run turtles run!" After the movie we went to Sonic, I let him out of his car seat so that he could sit in the front seat - a very special treat.
We went to MeMe & Pappy's Saturday evening. Jerry was making these odd noises "weeeooooouuuu" over and over again. At the same time he was doing a slow motion jump and then falling down to the side. Then he would wave his arms slowly from side to side. Pappy asked him what he was doing...He was a whale! The shots of the whales breaching in the movie were in slow motion - with whale songs in the back ground. Pappy joined in with Jerry's whale song for a duet.
Saturday morning we made a trip to town to get big Jerry some new flip flops. We did a spur of the moment side trip to the go cart track. First the Jerrys drove the family track...
The "Mom what are you doing? This is serious!" look.
Then the Rookie track! And, as Aunt Karen would say- they were off like a herd of turtles!
The "I'm coming after you - driver 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10!" look.
You only had to be three to drive on the Rookie track and it seemed to have magnetic corners - all the go carts would get stuck in the corners. It was because the kids could not turn the steering wheels! Most of the time the patient teenagers assisting the rookies had to kneel on the carts and help them steer their way around the track. Maybe they should have rookie drag racing instead - straight line - no turning.

Happy Easter

Well we did all the traditional things...
Colored eggs - check out the concentration tongue
Colored our faces.

Hunted eggs at NaNa's

Played with cousins-climbed trees.

We hunted eggs in the back yard

Isn't he adorable - you can see why I married him.

We hunted eggs at Haddie & Jerry's at soon to be Great Uncle StePHe's house. Haddie did so well she was a natural at picking up eggs and putting them in her basket. Seeing that she was only 5 months old last year - this was really her 1st time experiencing Easter.

We also had an Easter first of over indulging in sweets. We only made it half way home before the gummie bears made their second appearance. Poor little Jerry - I don't think pink juice will be his favorite any more.
