Fall Fun!!

School fall carnival.   Hold me too Pappy!!

Jesse the yodeling cowgirl - we tried to teach her to yodel but all we get is a "he-hooo".

And, if you can't guess who they are - Woody & Jesse from Toy Story. And, yes the one pumpkin is puking...had too much candy or watched the Cowboy's game.
Trick or treating at Shawnda's new house!
One of our "pooky punkins" - as Lil' Jerry would say

A Day Out with Thomas

On Friday, we traveled to Burnet to spend the "A Day Out with Thomas".
Actually, we left Thursday evening and traveled to the North side of San Antonio.
Haddie & Jerry got all dressed up in their Thomas gear.  We kept the trip a surprise.  Little Jerry had no idea what we were going to do - just that it was a surprise.  All Haddie knew was that it was way to long to be in a car seat.
Story time with Mr. Percible.  Look, I have proof that they love each other - at least for the moment.
Then we took pictures with Thomas - you can kind of see that he was "pulling" about five coach cars.  There were 2 other engines at the other end assisting Thomas.  When it was our turn to go up to Thomas to take a picture - Jerry got a little scared - Thomas was BIG.  "MOM, THOMAS IS GOING TO GET ME!!!"
Then came our turn to ride with Thomas. I don't know if we boarded Annie or Claribell (an original 1925 coach car).  Little Jerry was so excited when the conductor (dressed just like the one in the show) came by to punch  our tickets.  Then came the yell "All aboard - next stop Island of Sodor!"  Even though we were in the third car - Thomas' "PEEP PEEP" steam whistle was very loud.  Off we went on our 2.5 mile ride to Sodor (a push-pull through Burnet).  The ride lulled big Jerry to sleep.
Haddie & Jerry waved hello to everyone we passed in Burnet - I mean Sodor.

Saturday we got up early and went to the zoo.  This was Jerry's second time and Haddie's first time going to the zoo.  Haddie is a total Daddy's girl.  I love this picture!

The most interesting part - for the kids- was the Coati poop.  LJ is still talking about how the Coati came over the glass and pooped and the flies came...so interesting.  As you can see, Haddie had to squat down to see the poop too!

Jerry is going to kill me for this one... I don't even know what to write...

He is brushing a goat!
We ended our adventure with a Zoo Train ride - which lulled Haddie to sleep.

Early Morning Conversation...

Conversation with my son this morning when we got in the car at 6:40am...

"Mama, do you have your phone?" - I had to look...yep

"Mama, do you have you keys?" - Nope had to go back in and get my work keys.

"Mama - I not safe!" I forgot to buckle him - he had crawled through from the front seat.

What would I do without my 3 year old?  Such a little man.

Last Hoorah Before School Starts

So they haven't been out of school this summer; but, this past Monday was the official first day of the school year.  New classrooms - new teachers.  On Friday the kids were off for a teacher in service day. We  spent the morning at the aquarium and then we made an unplanned stop at the new splash fountain  in down town Corpus.  Haddie and Jerry had so much fun.  I was not prepared - no bathing suits - no extra clothes - we got in anyway! I did have sun block - thank goodness.  Jerry loved it.  Haddie not so much.  She had some issues with the fountains rudely spraying her in the face.  But, she did love playing with her brother.

Our neighbor called Big Jerry to say he had something to show Little Jerry -so he walked this little guy over.  A 3 month old mini mule.  Lil' Jerry named him Bull's Eye - we're into Toy Story for the moment.  Lil' Jerry became quite upset when Bull's Eye stepped on his foot.  He will still show you his invisible ow wee.

Do you remember when new shoes had to go through this test?
Who cares if they are comfortable -ARE THEY FAST?
These size 11's made the grade - I think the lights helped.
Hmmm....LIGHT SPEED

Making breakfast "ta-toes".

Relay For Life

On Friday we walked for "More Birthdays".  This year, we walked in honor of our Pappy (My Dad); and, we walked in memory of  - well I don't know what he would be called - Jerry's Dad died of cancer before any of his seven grand children could give him his Grandpa name.  Among the hundreds of luminaries that surrounded the track at Javelina Stadium - there were two very special ones for the grandpa's.  It was strange seeing "In memory of Jerry McQueen"  on the luminary - It is my father-in-law's name; but, it is also my husband's and my son's...

This year we ALL walked - last year Haddie could not even sit up - we had to prop her in the wagon with her boppy. This year she and Jerry rode for a mile in the wagon. Then the Jerrys ran 1/2 a mile. Haddie walked 1/4 of mile with her SQUEAKY shoes on!  She attracted some attention.  It was a wonderful event with some amazing local talent.

Our son..."Dairy Queen"

We had a great weekend of adventures - Jerry is growing up so fast. It made me think that I needed to do an up date on each of our children - starting with him. First, if you ask him his name - it's "Dairy Queen". Just say it fast - and you'll understand...
Jerry is my morning child - waking with bright eyes and a smile every morning. And, every morning, he has a wild windblown look- as if he has been flying the skies with Peter Pan - takes a little water to tame those curls. His favorite meal of the day is breakfast - a full breakfast - cereal is just a side dish. His favorite foods include blueberries, spinach with cheese, pancakes, hamburgers, pizza, salad, breakfast tacos and anything Daddy cooks on the barbecue pit. If you give him an apple do not insult his big-ness by peeling, cutting or coring. He does NOT like peas - and that's about all I can think of right now that he truly does not like to eat. He is my assistant chef in the kitchen - and is actually quite good at working the stand mixer. His favorite chef assignment is slicing fresh mushrooms (with a butter knife). Although, I always have to double the mushrooms that I need for the recipe - he eats half of them-raw! Of course, isn't that the perk of being a assistant chef - samples?
Jerry is now completely potty trained. Once HE decided that he was ready - he just did it -maybe only one or two accidents in the last 3 months. He has now declared that he is to big to even use a potty chair. So out goes the talking Elmo potty chair - whooohoooo! I mistakenly had bought the Spanish speaking one - so we really couldn't understand it anyway. Plus it was creepy in the middle of the night. Jerry would even tell it "Hush! You're going to wake up Sissie!" Jerry is very particular about being clean. He washes his hands frequently - sometimes 2-3 times during dinner. A few drops of water on his clothes requires an entire wardrobe change. So it only figures that he is very particular about where he goes to the bathroom too - the potty has to be up to his standards. At the airshow - he held it the entire day - the Skid-O-Cans were "discuss-sing". Needless to say he is NOT like his uncles Jeremy & Harley trying out every discuss-sing restroom in the country. Most public restrooms do NOT make the grade. He actually told me the other day - pointing to the potty - "Clean it Mom" - and that was at home! So, if he has been over to your house and went potty "Bueno Bano" to you! He panicked the other day in the backyard because he had waited too long. So I just guided him to the edge of the back porch and told him to go. He gave me a crazy look - like your kidding right? But he did it - it was his first out door peeing adventure. His dad complimented his arc. "That was fun, Mom!"
Currently Jerry's favorite things are dolphins, sharks, whales, trains, and the Blue Angels. His bath tub toys include a great white shark, orca, humpback whale, blue shark & tiger shark - by Schleich(we're looking for a Schleich dolphin). And he knows about them - Sharks have big teeth and caudal fins. Dolphins and whales have flukes and like to jump. Both have dorsal fins. Obviously one of his favorite things is watching the dolphin show at the aquarium.
He loves to go to riding in his Daddy's truck and playing outside while big Jerry is BBQing - again it's the samples. He is remembering places by sight - MeMe & Pappy's, PawPaw's, B&G's, where we get ice cream, where he saw the train(a historic steam engine) on the school field trip and the grocery store. He is a back seat driver - telling me which way HE wants to go and gets very upset when I turn right instead of left as instructed.
He loves to count things - seems to skip 4, 5, 6, 7. His favorite color is pink. He has a stutter on the first words in sentences esp. if it is a vowel. It is made worse when he is in a hurry or very tired. He likes to watch Elmo, Bob the Builder and anything with dolphins or whales. This past Friday night we went on a mother-son date to see Disney's Oceans. It was great! And, only a handful of people in the theatre - almost all young families - so no one minded him loudly interacting with the movie. There was a mother walrus nuzzling her new born - Jerry was yelling "Don't bite the baby!!" When a clutch of turtles hatched and started to head to sea - the birds were diving at them and eating them - BOTH of us were yelling "Run turtles run!" After the movie we went to Sonic, I let him out of his car seat so that he could sit in the front seat - a very special treat.
We went to MeMe & Pappy's Saturday evening. Jerry was making these odd noises "weeeooooouuuu" over and over again. At the same time he was doing a slow motion jump and then falling down to the side. Then he would wave his arms slowly from side to side. Pappy asked him what he was doing...He was a whale! The shots of the whales breaching in the movie were in slow motion - with whale songs in the back ground. Pappy joined in with Jerry's whale song for a duet.
Saturday morning we made a trip to town to get big Jerry some new flip flops. We did a spur of the moment side trip to the go cart track. First the Jerrys drove the family track...
The "Mom what are you doing? This is serious!" look.
Then the Rookie track! And, as Aunt Karen would say- they were off like a herd of turtles!
The "I'm coming after you - driver 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10!" look.
You only had to be three to drive on the Rookie track and it seemed to have magnetic corners - all the go carts would get stuck in the corners. It was because the kids could not turn the steering wheels! Most of the time the patient teenagers assisting the rookies had to kneel on the carts and help them steer their way around the track. Maybe they should have rookie drag racing instead - straight line - no turning.

Happy Easter

Well we did all the traditional things...
Colored eggs - check out the concentration tongue
Colored our faces.

Hunted eggs at NaNa's

Played with cousins-climbed trees.

We hunted eggs in the back yard

Isn't he adorable - you can see why I married him.

We hunted eggs at Haddie & Jerry's at soon to be Great Uncle StePHe's house. Haddie did so well she was a natural at picking up eggs and putting them in her basket. Seeing that she was only 5 months old last year - this was really her 1st time experiencing Easter.

We also had an Easter first of over indulging in sweets. We only made it half way home before the gummie bears made their second appearance. Poor little Jerry - I don't think pink juice will be his favorite any more.

We've been busy...

We braved the crowds during spring break with uncle's & cousins to visit the aquarium.

Jerry & Taylor check out the dolphins in the under water viewing area.
And then acted as cousins often do...
Liam was mesmerized by the big fishies.

Our neighbor's rabbits had babies and one came to VISIT.
Brady & bunny

Taylor & Pappy (or Pop Pop as Haddie sometimes calls him) fed the bunny lettuce from our garden.

Our garden is growing like crazy with 3-4 kinds of lettuce, 5 different kinds of potatoes (including blue), a variety of radishes, cilantro, dill, basil, spinach, green onions, carrots, jalapenos, cayenne's, banana peppers, green beans, snow peas, beef steak tomatoes, jelly bean tomatoes and 4 rows of corn. We also planted giant sunflowers along side the fence. And tiny seedless water melons along the back fence.

The Budweiser's Clydesdale's were in town - the kids were more impressed with the Dalmatian.

This weekend we went to the airshow - very HOT. Hadley stayed cool at NaNa's house.

Jerry Air Show 2008

Air Show 2010 - I love this one - the guys will recognize this look as the F-16 gawk.

On Sunday we watched the Blue Angels fly from the comfort and SHADE of our back yard. We may be off of the dolphin obsession and onto jets - which pleases his father very much.

He slept with the very expensive air show toy Blue Angel that night & at nap.

Haddie says "HI-Eeee Does" Translates to "Hi Ducks". We visited the baby chicks & ducklings at Tractor Supply.
