Miss Haddie

Here is a side by side with her brother when he was about her age - they look so much alike. She is now 13 pounds and smiling all the time. She loves to talk to you especially when you change her diaper - every once in awhile there is actually a few coo's in her talking. She is now sleeping through the night. Haddie is still a little fashionista with a growing bow collection. I swear Haddie's mood perks up when we put a froofy dress on her. She loves to take baths and watch her brother run around. She is now drinking 6 ounces at a time and on 5th type of formula since she was born - a lactose free formula. This one finally seems to easier on her tummy. If my postings are mis-worded, mis-spelled and full of typo's, it is because I'm typing with one hand and holding her with the other. She is my blogging partner - at least until her bottle is ready.

Old McQueen's Farm

Yes, I mean old - Jerry will be turning 39 on Monday!
The last few days have been very nice - Jerry has been off and the are in kids in preschool. I can't remember the last time Jerry & I were able to spend so much time together with out the kiddos. We ran around Corpus yesterday - hitting the favorite spots - Academy. Today we planted our garden. We got a tiller for our Christmas/birthday presents and Jerry has been tilling every chance he could. I held him off as long as I could for planting. We are going organic. Reading up on good bugs, bad bugs, incompatible plants and ally plants. All we want is a garden where the kids can play in the dirt and eat straight from the vine without worry. We fertilized with fish meal - and Fisher found that very interesting - a good stinky smell. Jerry & I planted: potatoes, cilantro, snow peas, radishes, lettuce, jalapenos and carrots. Jerry likes to show off now that he has a rear tine tiller and can run it with one hand. This past weekend we went to Bishop park and fed the ducks and geese. Lil' Jerry was fearless while his mother and sister took pictures from our perch atop a picnic table. I have had a few bad run in's with that goose. He didn't really throw bread TO the ducks- it was more like AT them.

While I was looking for information to send to little Jerry's school, I found this pamphlet on Alopecia Areata. It is from the American Academy for Dermatology. It is a little more in-depth.

Merry Christmas To All

Santa was caught Christmas Eve! Lil' Jerry got up from bed and caught his Dada assembling his tricycle. After helping his Dada finish, he took it for a few spins around the house. We started our own Christmas tradition of making or picking out a special ornament for each child each year. Lil' Jerry has a tiny glass "Baby's First" bear from the Meyer's last year; and, on Christmas Eve he painted a teddy bear shaped wooden ornament. Haddie has a "Baby's First" Snowman given to her by her Meme long before Jerry & I even met.

All was anew Christmas morning - he was just as excited to see his new tricycle again. But, there was a problem. Brown Bear, Brown Bear was on the handle bars. He quickly solved that problem by telling that bear "Mine!" and throwing him across the room. Knocking the penguin off the deck and running over Curious George he scooted around the living room. Santa also brought him a real tool box with not so real tools - and who knew that a monkey wrench could double as a gun...

Like any two year-old he was more interested in the boxes and wrapping paper. Jerry & Haddie had matching Christmas jammies.

Our Christmas at home lasted until about 8:30. Then we were off to Meme & Poppy's to have Christmas with cousins Brady & Taylor and the traditional biscuit and sausage gravy breakfast.

Jerry & Taylor danced to Meme's Nano...

We then went to PawPaw and Nanny's for lunch and a gift exchange. We left to go Nana's for the next Christmas - dinner. Lil' Jerry was completely worn out but had a final burst of energy to wrestle his cousin Christian. We got home about 10pm (it is now 11:30 and I'm blogging?!?) - and if you counted - it was a filled with FOUR Christmas's. And yep - we're tired- joyful and thankful for the family, friends and everything Christmas. God Bless and good night to all.

Alopecia Areata

Yesterday Lil' Jerry was diagnosed with alopecia areata. On Friday I went to my son's preschool for his Christmas party. He ran to greet me with a big hug. Then I ran my fingers through his beautiful strawberry blond hair and ended up with a handful. He has little bald patches on the crown of his head. It seems to run in family lines and Barbara does remember Jerry's hair falling out when he was Lil' Jerry's age. There is a 60% chance that his hair may grow back in a years time. But, Dr. Leshin - our pediatrician said it may get worse before it gets better. It is a type of autoimmune disorder where a persons own antibodies attack their hair follicles - there is no known "whys" and no treatments.

From the website below: In alopecia areata, the affected hair follicles are mistakenly attacked by a person's own immune system (white blood cells), resulting in the arrest of the hair growth stage. Alopecia areata usually starts with one or more small, round, smooth bald patches on the scalp and can progress to total scalp hair loss (alopecia totalis) or complete body hair loss (alopecia universalis). Here is a website if you want to know more. http://www.naaf.org/
Both Jerry and Haddie have head colds as well. The start of our Christmas holiday is going very well. My children fear the sight of their mother coming at them with saline and a suction bulb. I guess we had to top the stomach virus of last Christmas some how.
Last night we celebrated my family's Christmas. With two tired babies and one tired husband....If I didn't tell you good bye and thank you - Goodbye & Thank You! It was a joyful end to a stress filled day. We missed you - Aimee & Jeremy - wasn't the same without you there!

McQueen's Start Blogging

Yes, the McQueen's have finally started a blog! The season is a joyful one with the new addition to our family: Miss Haddie, also known as Squeeker, the fashonista. Today is Christmas parties at work and the kid's school. Squeeker is wearing: red fleece shorts with matching jacket and her "I don't need mistletoe to get kisses" onsie. She also has a gaint christmas bow on her head-which she really doesn't care for. We will be celebrating her dedication to Christ this Sunday.
Jerry and I are truly enjoying the whole "family" experience - espcially during the holidays. Putting up the Christmas tree was an adventure this year - most of the ornaments didn't make it out of the box and probably won't for a few years. We went to the La Posada parade - and were happy because it was only interrupted by two trains this year.
Bubbie is an awsome big brother-for his age. He is concerned when she crys, protective when "stangers" hold her and is a good gopher for "biapers", blankets, toys and pappies (pacifiers). Jerry asked him to bring him one of her biapers and he did. And did, and did...I don't know how many trips he made back and forth to their bed room - he emptied the diaper package. He has a new favorite book and we have to read it several times every day...Wet Dog! by Elise Broach. It a great book full of things to shout, a baby, a cake/ga-ga's, words he knows how to sign and the best part...you get to shake like a wet dog. He read to us for the first time Wed. night...we had a hard time keeping serious. "Blah, Blah,Blah,Blah,Blah, NO WET DOG! Blah,Blah,Blah,Blah, NO WET DOG!

Hope everyone has a blessed Christmas holiday! It might be awhile before there is another entry - work closes for two weeks for the holidays!
